Creating hands on activates will help the children retain the information as we have been taught throughout our course. I was in Mrs. Homers class one afternoon and the students just finished their District Math Test. They had 10 minutes before recess. Mrs. Home decided to engage her students with a math game she had created. The game called, "Sparkle", helped students learn how to count by 2's, 5's, and 10's.   The students would all stand in a circle, one child would start by saying 5. The next student would say 10 and so on up until 100. The student after 100 says, “Sparkle”. The next student after him would be out. Similar to Duck, Duck, Goose. But without the running. The children thought it was the best game they have ever played and were able to learn. Mrs. Homer created a fun game that was a great learning opportunity as well.

I was in Mrs Wilcox class one morning and she had her students working on their center actives. She had these great interactive activities for her students to learn their spelling words. She bought letter necklace beads. She had large amounts of different letter in small containers along with 7 different colored pipe cleaners 3 inches long.  Students had to spell their spelling words out using the beads and pipe cleaners. They would have to find the letter and then place it on the pipe cleaner. A few of the students told me it was their favorite game. The students were so cute. I thought this was a clever way to have the students learn their spelling words for the week.

All the classrooms in the elementary school have the opportunity to have laptops and tablets. The Teachers are able to let the students play on a website called Lexyia. Its a Website that provides games surrounding the curriculum they are learning. The games will not let them move on until they get the right answer. This allows the students to learn at their own pace and have fun while learning.

We have been learning many things in our course and I was able to experience in person how it is all implemented in a classroom. It helps the students stay engaged with learning and they have fun as well. With the great homework assignments in our class and my student teaching, it makes me so excited to become a teacher.
